NAVIGATING HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Full Details for Course registration

 

Course selection will open Monday, December 18, 2023, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Current 8-11 grade students and their parents/guardians may view their teachers’ course recommendations and submit their course placement requests through HCPSS Connect . Course requests and alternates should be submitted by Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

The following information will support students and parents/guardians in making course selections.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • December 18: 9th grade Registration window opens
  • January 4 at 6:30pm: River Hill High School Parent Night
  • January 11 at 6:30pm: Glenelg High School Parent Night (inclement date is same date and time but will be held virtually)
  • January 8-15: Counselors meet with each 8th grader regarding Course Registration
  • January 16: Last day to enter course/alternate requests via HCPSS Connect for priority placement consideration. Requests received after this date will be accommodated if space is available. It is critical that students/parents complete their course requests including 3 alternate elective selections.
  • Students and their parents/guardians will be able to access their list of registered courses on June 6th, 2024. Final 2024-2025 student schedules will be available in August 2024.

 

OVERVIEW OF COURSE SELECTION PROCESS

  • Beginning Monday, December 18, 2023, current 8-11 grade students and parents/guardians may view the teachers’ course recommendations on the Course Placement Review page, and submit course requests and alternate requests via HCPSS Connect no later than Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
  • Each student will select 7 courses and 3 alternates. Please add alternate selections in priority order and without duplicating any other requests.
  • If you do not see a course option available in the drop down menu, complete the fillable course placement request form and submit it to your school counselor.
  • All course placement request submissions will go through a review process. The Course Placement Review request must be submitted electronically through HCPSS Connect or to your school counselor. Requests received by January 16, 2024, will be given priority; requests received after this date will be accommodated if space is available. The electronic submission of Course Placement Review requests will close at 4:00pm on March 1, 2024

    • When selecting Alternate courses, be sure to pay attention to what grade levels are eligible for the course and any prerequisites that students must successfully complete before registering for a class

JUMPSTART OPTIONS

 

JROTC

Apply for JROTC, through January 5, 2024.

HCPSS’ JROTC program provides an introduction to career opportunities in the United States Armed Forces and teaches principles of leadership, discipline and civic responsibility. To apply for participation for the 2024-2025 school year, students must contact a JROTC official by Jan. 5, 2024. Only students who are interviewed during this designated period will be considered for enrollment.
