2023-2024 HCPSS Registration for current 8th graders

Parents/Guardians of 8th Grade Students:

It is time to register your child for high school courses for the 2023-2024 school year.  This online registration begins Monday, December 19, 2022 and will be open through Tuesday, January 17, 2023. There is no rush to complete the Course Registration process, so please take the time to read and understand all of the important information contained in this message.

All 9th grade students are required to take seven credits.  The first 5 of 7 total credits (8 total courses because PE and Health are worth .5 credits), have been locked into your student’s Course Request page.  These courses are recommendations from your student’s current teachers in English, Math, Science and Social Studies.   Health and PE courses are also mandatory and are locked into your child’s schedule.  If your student is in Level 1 of Spanish or French, a recommendation for Level II will also be listed in the ‘locked’ courses.

You can view your student’s teacher recommendations on the Course Request page found in your Synergy/Connect account.  All course selections must be made via your student’s Synergy account.

To access your student’s Synergy Account:  HCPSS.me > Synergy > Course Request as you have view-only access. For more details on the Course registration process, click here.  Spanish, Korean, and Chinese versions are also available.

All 8th grade students viewed a presentation of the Online Registration process this week.  The online registration presentation can be viewed here.  Transcripts for the presentation are available in Spanish, Korean and Chinese .

We encourage you to view the High School Course Catalog and the 9th Grade Course Option Sheet when completing the online course registration process. These resources are very helpful.

Please note that as your proceed through the Online Registration process, your progress is automatically saved.  Please do NOT lock your page, as that only prevents you from going in and making changes as necessary.  Counselors will lock the page once they meet individually with your student or after the registration window has closed.

Level Changes/Course Placement Review:  If your student would like a level change (ex: US History Honors as opposed to the recommended US History), or a different course (ex. German I instead of the recommended Spanish II Honors), a Course Placement Review form can be submitted online via your Connect/Synergy account. For directions on how to access the online form, please click here. The deadline for CPR submissions is February 15, 2023.

Fine Art Auditions:  Finally, if your student would like to audition for upper level Fine Arts courses in Band, Orchestra, Chorus and Art (portfolio), please contact the High School regarding Audition and Portfolio submission dates.
