Dear Folly Quarter Families:
We had wonderful concerts this past two weeks to close out our Spring Concert season from our Chorus, Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. We have a week and half of school left and please continue to encourage your child to work hard and be kind. Next week we have our 8th grade field trip and our 8th grade celebration and 8th grade PTSA dance. We look forward to another week of celebrations.

Field Days for Students at the End of the Year
To celebrate the end of the school year, each grade level will participate in a field day! In order to make this day enjoyable and successful for all, please see the information below:
- All field days will occur on half days (3 hour early dismissal schedule).
- Activities will take place outside on the school grounds.
- Students should wear sneakers and dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather.
- Students are encouraged to wear hats, sunscreen, and bring refillable water bottles labeled with their names.
- Students are permitted to bring in sports equipment, blankets, books, and art supplies.
- In order to reduce the risk of injury, please note that baseball and lacrosse equipment is not permitted.
- In the event of inclement weather, outdoor activities will be canceled and students will attend their regular classes inside the building.

Lost and Found (are you missing anything?)
If your student is missing any belongings, please have them check the Lost and Found table located outside of the cafeteria. Many coats, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. have been collected over the past weeks. If your child is missing any other items such as headphones, eyeglasses, jewelry, etc- please have them check with our secretaries in the front office or feel free to call as well. All items must be picked up by the end of the day on Wednesday, June 18. Items not picked up will be donated.
Did you miss the FQMS 2024-2025 Yearbook Deadline?
You still have a chance to purchase a yearbook! We have a limited supply -- first come, first serve basis. Have your student bring in their check to the front office and their name will be added to the list. The check MUST be made payable to LIFETOUCH in the amount of $25 in order to secure the purchase.

All Media Center books are due Monday, June 9th
Currently, there are over 300 overdue items. Please help your readers find and return their overdue books as soon as possible to prepare for the end of the school year.
We will be sending payment instructions after June 9th for any books that are lost/not returned.

NEWS FROM OUR HEALTH ROOM
Dear Parent/Guardian,
If your student has medication in the health room, those medications will need to be picked up by noon on June 18th. If your child will need to take medication during the coming school year, medication order forms can be found on the HCPSS website at https://www.hcpss.org/health/medications/
*If your child will be in band, orchestra, or chorus next year, consider requesting the doctor to include a "self-carry/self-administer" order for your child's emergency medications (epipens, inhalers) for extended day and weekend field trips.
Orders for each new school year must be dated on or after July 1. All medications must be in containers properly labeled with the following information:
- Student name
- Medication name
- Dosage to be given
- Time and frequency of medication
- Date of medication order
- Prescriber's name
- Expiration date of medication
Over-the-counter medications such as cold, allergy, and headache medications should be brought to the health room in new, unopened containers.
*Medications should be delivered to school by a parent/guardian to assure safe arrival. Students should not transport medications.
**Medication remaining at the end of the school year should be picked up by the parent/guardian by noon on June 18th. Any medication not picked up will be destroyed.
Please contact our nurse if you need to make different arrangements for medication pick up.
Important Immunization Requirements for incoming 7th Grade students (school year 2025-2026):
Effective the first day of school, 2025-2026, 1 dose of Tdap vaccine and 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine will be required by the state of Maryland for all students entering Grade 7. If we do not receive proof of these immunizations by the first day of school, your child will be excluded from school. Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the Health Room may not have the updated immunization record. Please contact your child’s doctor and send, via email or fax, an updated copy of your child’s immunizations to the Health Room. Our fax # is (410) 531-2473. HCPSS Summer Meal Program
HCPSS will offer its free summer meal program weekdays June 23-Aug. 1 (except July 4) from 12:30-2 p.m. at locations across Howard County. Open to all HCPSS students and any children ages 18 and under, there are no applications, enrollment or fees to participate in this program, however children must be present to receive free meals. Free meals also will be provided to all students participating in HCPSS summer programs.

Mathematic Resources for Rising 7th Grade Students
Mathematics Resources for Rising Grade 7 Students: Please forward the following message to the families of current middle school students who will take mathematics courses in middle school during the 2025-2026 school year and may have yet to learn math content in a prerequisite course that students are skipping. Staff in the Office of Secondary Mathematics shared the information with math ITLs, classroom teachers, math coaches, and G/T resource teachers. Direct questions to Jon Wray.

HCPSS Pre-K Program:
The HCPSS Pre-K Program is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year! The Pre-K Program is offered at no cost to families that qualify and is made available to eligible children in all attendance areas. Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2025, to be considered for fall 2025 enrollment and must also meet the eligibility criteria. Families who are interested in applying should submit their completed application along with the required documentation to hcpss_pk@hcpss.org or to their local elementary school. Please visit the HCPSS' Pre-K Program website for an application, information about the program, and eligibility criteria. If you have additional questions about the program, please contact the Office of Early Childhood Programs at 410-313-6836.
For schools without Pre-K, eligible families will attend the designated feeder school, so please help spread the word to the families in your community, even if you do not have a program at your school site. Direct questions to Brandy Valentine.
