Staff Appreciation Breakfast from PTSA
Thank you to our PTSA who provided a wonderful breakfast and coffee for our staff this past Monday. It was a nice treat to start our week. We appreciate our families and our partnership! Thank YOU!
Language of Belonging
We have started the past few weeks with a theme for our school: Language of Belonging. We know that the sense of belonging is important because each and every student matters and needs to feel that they are included, valued, and important to our community. We know that Middle School can be tough but it is all of our responsibility to bring our best selves to school and treat others with kindness. On Falcon Watch, Mrs. Hewitt and I are discussing the importance of the language, actions, what we say, how we say it, etc. can either make someone feel as if they belong or not.
Sometimes students engage in negative language with one another and sometimes students brush it off by saying "I was only joking, or I didn't mean that"... or, they feel that if the language is contained within their friend group that it is "ok". Our students know (as it is a common saying from Mrs. Hewitt and I) “it is not okay- it is never okay.” As a community, we want our language to represent our PBIS motto: we Belong - we Engage - we Show stamina - we Try hard…our BEST. We will continue our theme of Language of Belonging over the next several weeks and in our upcoming student Code of Conduct Town Hall. For the Mr. Rogers’ fans, today we referenced a quote from Mr. Rogers, "There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.”
Thank you for sending us your best,
Mike Babe
Principal
Career Cafes
Folly Quarter is excited to kick off our Career Cafes! Once a month, an adult guest speaker from our community will engage with students interested in learning about the speaker's career pathway, experiences, and words of advice.
The first Career Cafe will take place this Tuesday, February 25, during each students’ grade level lunch. Students may opt-in by completing this Google form. Details on the guest speaker can be found on the form. These students will receive passes on Tuesday giving them permission to leave their pre-lunch class 5 minutes early to get their lunch and report to Portable 1.
Feel free to reach out to Pauline_Baek@hcpss.org (Career Readiness Advisor) with any questions!
