Take your child to work day 

"Take our children to Work Day" is Thursday, April 23.  The program was created as an educational experience for our children.  It provides an opportunity for our children to become more aware of their parents’ work day and encourages them to think about their futures. 

If your child is attending your workplace this week, please  email: fqmsabsence@hcpss.org so it can be recorded appropriately.  Please also know that instruction will continue on April 23rd as normal.

Make Your Voice Heard! Your Opinion Matters!: Parents and guardians of children receiving special education and related services were mailed the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services. Parents are asked to complete the survey and return it in the postage paid envelope by Friday, June 5, 2026. The survey can also be completed online. Your feedback will help guide efforts to improve special education and related services in HCPSS. Your voice can make a real difference for your child and many other children across the state of Maryland.

From Dreams to Dollars: 12th Annual Youth Leadership Summit – Youth Entrepreneurship Conference.

This free event will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 1:00–4:00 PM at Harpers Choice Middle School and is designed to inspire middle school students to explore entrepreneurship, leadership, and future career pathways. 

Chinese Culture Festival

Come join us for an afternoon of fun showcasing different Chinese cultural activities and snacks! This drop-in event will showcase calligraphy, board games, fun crafts, and traditional children's games in different stations around the Pindell Room for everyone to explore. For a quiet and relaxing activity, snacks and drinks will be provided with a fun Chinese TV show in Studio A. Families and young children are especially welcome.

This class is part of the HCLS Teens Teach initiative, in which teens develop, plan, and share their passions and expertise with the community.

The FQMS PTSA is seeking a detail-oriented and organized volunteer to serve as PTSA Secretary for the 2026–2027 school year. This role supports the board by taking meeting minutes, managing records, and helping keep communication clear and organized. A great way to stay involved and make a meaningful impact- no prior experience required.

 

Parent Volunteer(s) for Yearbook for 26-27 school year

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Yearbook Advisor to help capture and celebrate the memories of our school year! This role involves guiding students in designing and organizing the yearbook, overseeing photography and content creation, and helping bring the final product to life. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students, has an eye for detail, and is excited about storytelling through pictures and writing. If you’re passionate about school culture and want to leave a lasting impact, this is a great opportunity to get involved!
